More like Whoopsie Pies, as it turned out.

I got this kit to make whoopie pies. Here what came in it:

No instuctions were included. I e-mailed the company and got them, no big deal. However here are all the things you actually need to make whoopie pies:

I get that they can't really include eggs, milk, oil, and butter, but then really, this is hardly a complete kit.

Alright, so mix up the cake batter-type stuff with the oil and milk.

Egg it up.

Whirrrrrrrrr and it's mixed.

So here's where it got whoopsed up. The kit says it makes 12-15 whoopie pies. So when I blobbed them out on the cookie sheets I was all "12 blobs. Done and done," forgetting that 12 blobs would only equal 6 whoopie pies. Therefore, I made them way too huge.

So while those are baking, it's time to make icing! Measuring out 8 tablespoons of butter is a royal pain in the ass. Also, the icing mix they provided (along with icing sugar I provided) was seriously and ridiculously runny. It was not usable whatsoever. I had to put in pounds (well, not really) of extra icing sugar, just to make it usable.

Like I said, I made these way too huge. Although, my only real experience with whoopie pies is based on the ones sold at Irving, and they are a decent size. Not as big as these mothers, but still. Anyway, I tried to cut them down to a reasonable size.

Here is one before I altered the icing. What a mess.

Gross. Anyway, evenutally I got the icing to a decent consistency and put the candy cane bits in there and it all worked out okay. Although, I thought they were too sweet. The pregnant lady who ate some thought they were juuuuust right. But you can't trust the tastebuds of a pregnant lady!

So I have this glass top coffee table, and the middle piece was being held precariously in place. When I bought it, it didn't have glass there at all, and one of the four metal pieces that was intended to hold the glass in place was broken off. For many years now it had been held in place with a makeshift dealie. Today, that dealie failed.

The scariest part for me involves that red vase-like thing. I'm not sure what it is actually called. I mean, I know it's not a vase. It wouldn't exactly flourish at holding and displaying flowers. Perhaps petals floating in water. But come off it, I'm not doing that. It's just decorative I suppose.

Anyway, I love it. It was my parents and is straight up from the 70s and, I feel, has always been a highlight of my living room. Well, if you can see past the giant marshmallow like wall unit and zebra fur covered chairs, fur rug, and miniature Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino. I love it so much, I actually kept it out of my living room for almost a year, out of Cupcake's reach, until I felt he was mature enough to not go bounding at it and thereby crashing it over and destroying it. So you can imagine the near heart attack I had when this table gave way. But, as you can see, miracle of miracles (my miracle scale is maintained at a relatively low level), it has survived! Look how close it was to being demolished! A half inch in the wrong direction and it could have snapped in half!

That wasn't the scariest part for Cupcake. He was eating at the time. Evidently, the crashing sound alone is what caused his near heart attack.

So, I finally got a laptop (I'm using it right now!) so it's finally 2003 in my apartment. So yesterday I made the world's greatest laptop bag! Although, it's not really a bag, since there is no handle. It's more of a prevent the cat from biting the laptop case.

Dear Stephen King, I am not averse to thick novels. Did you know that the very first novel I ever read, when I was 12 years old, was "It"? Which I picked up at a yard sale based almost entirely on its thickness. I just had a desire to get through such a huge mound of paper. Why just last week I started in on "Anna Karenin".

But today, your massive novel "Under The Dome" arrived for me at the library. I'll admit to part of the blame here. I should have really thought about how gigantic this was when I placed it on hold. Now, I haven't read all of your books, I am not one of those hardcore Stephen King fans. I have enjoyed a few of them, however, and I am quite fond (as fond as you can be while having your stomach turn) of "Gerald's Game". This book seemed particularly interesting to me, so I went ahead and put it on hold, foolishly.

Mr. King, did you know some people can't afford $40 books? I am one of those people. I am a library patron. Oh great library, knowledge and entertainment for free! Did you know that libraries have a 3 week limit on borrowing books? They do. Do you think I can read this in 3 weeks? I don't. I will try, but my hopes are not high. My brother even suggested mailing me his copy, which I could then read at my leisure, and return to him. The shipping would actually cost more than the book, so that option is out. No one else I know owns this book. I do not like to steal, so that option is out. Plus, really, how does one steal a 4 pound book? Was that your intention sir, to prevent theft? Well, bravo.

I have just learned, in my desperate search to not have to try to read this in 3 weeks, that "Under The Dome" will be out in trade paperback in early July! For around $20. I mean, yeah, that's half the price, but, I still don't have $20 to spend on books. Especially when said book is already sitting in my apartment, waiting to be read, for free. For the next 3 weeks.

Mr. King, despite not being a super fan, I have always had a soft spot for you. There have been times when I have claimed you to be adorable and even cute. But mister, you are pushing your luck.

I will try my damnedest to get this book read in 3 weeks. I got through Linden MacIntyre's "The Bishop's Man" in its 1 week rapid read time limit. "Under The Dome" is only, oh, I don't know, TEN THOUSAND times longer than that.

In conclusion, please consider your library readers next time you have a few days to fire off a new novel. Or, failing that, send me all future books for free.

Alright, based on this blog lately, I am a crazy cat lady who spends all her time baking. This is not too far from the truth. Last week I finally found a bundt pan at Value Village so we decided to declare May 8 International Bundt Cake Day.

I can't believe how long it took to find a bundt pan at Value Village. I thought these would be showing up every week! I mean, bundt cakes are sort of old lady style, and dying is also sort of old lady style. So I thought it would be no problem. But it took forever. Then I refused to pay full price for one of these (like, $12) because I was so adamant that they should easily be found at Value Village. This one was $2.99. I actually found a bundt pan for microwave cookery before I found a regular use-in-the-oven bundt pan. Sheesh.

Okay, here's the roundup of stuffios you will need.

So I needed to mash these walnuts up, similar to that time I smashed up peanuts for those peanut butter chocolate cookie bar things (that were amazing!). No need for a hammer this time.

Cupcake was way interested in the walnuts for some reason.

Alright, start with the cake mix, which I think was devil's food cake. Yes, it was.

Seriously, they are just walnuts, what's the big deal?

Eggs.

Water.

Vegetable oil.

Walnuts.

Okay, mix all that up with a hand mixer or, failing that, your dirty grimy hands (which is what I used).

Pour cake batter into bundt pan!

This cake batter actually tasted pretty good. Those lumps are walnuts, not my bad mixing skills.

Okay, bake that for about 45 minutes. Then let it cool for about 25 minutes. Then it will be tough to get it out of the pan (as evidenced by the knife scrape marks on this pan made by its previous owner). Stick it all in the fridge for about 5 minutes, then the cake will pop right out!

Along with a little piece that broke off.

Okay, you need to melt a whole bag of chocolate chips and some butter for the glaze. It might seem like there won't be enough to cover it, but there will be so much it will blow your mind. And your diet.

Alright, so use a spatula and a knife to cover that bundt! Wax paper prevents a huge mess on your counter.

Put some chopped up walnuts on top and bust out abominable snowman!

The bitch is back!

She's a super lady. Melt her down for your topping. Basically just leave the melted chocolate in the pan and drizzle it back and forth on the bundt!

Aw yeah! You have a fancy bundt cake for International Bundt Cake Day!

Bundle it up and get it in the car and take it to its demise.

Force it to sit next to this disturbing failure of a jello bundt (which actually tasted awesome - don't judge it!)

Send leftover cake to your mom for mother's day!

Okay, dump some eggs in the cake mix and mix that shit up!

I had a helper this time around, so while she mixed that shit I put the cupcake liners in the muffin pans.

Ta-da.

Also, I mixed some peanut butter into a ton of icing.

Pour the cake mix into aforementioned cupcake liners.

Toss that mix in the oven and go rock out on Guitar Hero!

After rocking out, remove cupcakes from oven.

Go rock out some more while they cool!

Come back and deocorate with peanut butter icing and peanut butter cups. Eat remaining peanut butter cups and several cupcakes.

Short and sweet.

Baking Peanut Butter

Chocolate Cookie Bars!

Or something like that. The recipe is in the kitchen and frankly, I don't care about going to find it to see what the actual name of this cookie thing is.

Okay, you will need all this jazz.

And a cat to complain about not being allowed on the counter.

Um, flour next I guess. I made these 2 weeks ago. I don't have a super vivid memory of the directions.

Okay, but you do need to crush up some peanuts, which I remember because of this photo.

You put the peanuts in a baggie, then pound them with the hammer. That way, peanut bits don't go flying everywhere!

Whatcha doin' in there?

Smashing peanuts.

Add the peanuts to the flour. In retrospect, this is probably actually flour and sugar. Whatever.

Okay, now you need to melt some chocolate squares and some butter.

This chocolate woman is mocking me.

It's all "Get in the kitchen bitch!" And I'm all "I am in the kitchen woman! Just not wearing a stuffy high-collared outfit!"

Okay, calm yourself down. You need to break out the mini whisk you got with a hot chocolate kit and semi-whisk some eggs.

From what I remember, and based on the order I took these pictures, I think the eggs went into the chocolate/butter mix. Then that mix went into what is probably the flour/sugar/peanut mix.

Nope, I was wrong. As you can see, the eggs went in after mixing the chocolate and flour business.

See?

Cupcake still wants in on this.

Upon further reflection and further looking at these pictures I'm pretty sure it was flour and peanuts, chocolate and butter, chocolate mixed with sugar, eggs mixed with choco/sugar, and then flour/peanuts added to choco/sugar. If you're following along at home, you have fucked up your cookies.

Okay, mix this stuff up!

Try not to think about what this looks like.

Spread that shit (ugh, sorry) out in a cookie sheet.

Stick it in the oven. I don't remember for how long. While waiting, check out my awesome new ring and matching nail polish job!

Cupcake knocking over a chair, and then sitting on the top of it in victory.

Okay, now you need to make the peanut butter topping. Peanut butter and regular butter.

Yum!

I love peanut butter.

Oh yeah, mix in some icing sugar. And add peanut butter chips. Oh holy jeebus, they are so tasty.

Mix that all up and dump it onto the cookie part that you just baked.

Smooth it out. Try not to think about what it looks like.

Stick that mother in the over for about 5 minutes so that the chips melt. Then smooth it out again. Now melt some butter and chocolate chips for the fancypants topping.

Drizzle chocolate over yumness. I used one of those icing contraptions.

Add the crushed peanuts.

Think about how the next time you do one of these baking posts you should save some of the cookies to eat, so that you are not just torturing yourself by looking at all these pictures and not being able to eat the product.

Put cookies in fancy little tin and serve to friends.

Go to the kitchen and see what's available for eating. Find out it's just peanut butter and crackers, a sad, sad substitute.

Bake! Bake a Cake!

Birthday Cake!

First, you will need these things, minus the cat food.

Also, some shortening and flour for the pan.

Try to explain to the cat why you can't let him up on the counter to investigate the smells and sounds. This is a birthday cake, not a cat fur cake.

Mix the cake mix, eggs, water, and oil, and dump in pan. Surprisingly, cake mix batter is not all that tasty.

Making a basic cake is dead easy. You literally just mix that stuff mentioned above and chuck it in a pan and into the oven. This is the entire amount of clean up (other than the pan, which was in the oven at the time of photograph).

Forty minutes later (enough time to clean the bathroom!), the cake is baked!

After letting it cool, cut it into three pieces. Horizontally. That's kind of important.

Let it continue to cool. You will need a boatload of Skor bars.

This recipe actually called for 12 bars, but I didn't know how to convert ounces to grams while in the grocery store and I thought "It can't possibly be that many" so I only got 8. And 8 was fine, but 12 would have been awesome.

Now, the recipe suggested using a blender on "pulse" to chop the Skor bars into bits. This did not really work, as it more powderized them than chopped them. The sound of the blender led to this reaction:

Then when I stopped using the blender and chopped by hand...

...I got this sad face reaction for not paying him enough attention or explaining what was going on.

After the Skor bars have been annihilated, add them to a full container of Cool Whip. Don't say Cool Whip outloud, or Cupcake will start meowing for some. What a pain.

Add to first layer of cake.

Add to second layer of cake.

Add top of cake.

Cover in Skor bar Cool Whip.

Oh yeah, you should have kept some Skor bits aside. If you didn't, go buy another Skor bar. Add remaining chopped Skor bar to top of cake.

Use your camera's macro feature.

Ooh and ahh.

While waiting for this party to get started, stretch it out. You deserve it.

Okay, this is another gross post. Not quite as epic as the Kraft Dinner/Gypsophilia/Toenail post, but probably a close second.

To get you started, here is Cupcake again. A nice dose of sugar to make the medicine go down.

So the other day, some friends were coming over and I had to go looking for my board games, which I hadn't dug out since I moved. So, I dig them out of my storage closet, and as I'm loading the closet back up with various bulky items, I step back, in a downward and backward fashion, onto a piece of glass.

While moving, a lamp with green glass broke, and this was a remnant of said lamp. Unbeknownst to me, it was hiding in the storage closet waiting for the right moment to strike. Not cool glass. Not cool.

So, I hobble to the bathroom to wash off the blood and get a good look. Now you can have one too. If you want. And I know you do. Click on the disgusted swine flu girl to get a look.

Not as bad as the toe at least, right?

So anyway, I have to dig this chunk of glass out with a sewing needle and a pair of tweezers. You know, peeling skin back with the needle, coaxing the glass around with the tweezers. And you know that crunchy sound broken glass makes? Blarg. It was making that while I was trying to dig it out. You're dead to me glass.

So I finally get it out, then have to use the needle to dig farther into my skin to get the paint out, because when the glass came out, it left some of its (probably 1970s lead-based) paint behind. Ugh. Here's another picture, with some of my faux fur rug coming out of the wound.

I have been a little in love with the Wonder Wheel for quite some time now. I'm not entirely sure why, but it may have something to do with how great it looked in this Beck video and this Tragically Hip video.

Watching them now, about 13 years or so after they were released, makes me wonder why the Wonder Wheel really stood out to me so much, since it was not exactly prominently featured.

Did I mention I got a new camera?!

I just have a thing for ferris wheels I guess, even though they are pretty low on the excitement scale. Unlike the Cyclone!

This was a super fun ride! Roller coasters rarely fail at being fun.

As some of you may know, I'm also weirdly drawn to carousel horses, despite their creepiness. I mean, they look frozen in terror! Almost as if they are just realizing they are sinking in quicksand!

Speaking of terrifying:

I do not have any idea what is happening there. The shop underneath was not yet open for the season. I mean, it seems like it can be nothing other than legs in cat heads. And I know that's a wave behind it, but my brain sees it at cat head juice. The only way this could even slightly be explained is if the shop sold novelty slippers.

Moving on. Boo!

We also hit up the Staten Island Ferry for some free Statue of Liberty viewing.

It's not as big as you might think it is.

I have no idea what this statue is for. That's just the kind of tourist I am. Snap and bail.

We also hit up Jersey Gardens to do some serious shopping. That's hippo on the E.

This outlet mall was absolutely monstrous. It pretty much killed my legs and feet for the rest of the trip. Thanks mall. But I also got an awesome dress and shoes there. Thanks mall!

These were in a regular electronics/entertainment kind of store, which sort of blew my mind.

We ate at a 50's diner, because I adore 50's diners.

It was pretty good. The milkshakes were awesome. After about 8 hours or so of shopping, this is how I felt:

There's a giant Toys R Us in Times Square, so of course we went in, to see the indoor ferris wheel!

I'm not really sure why an indoor ferris wheel would be so exciting, but it really was. See how excited Geoffrey is?

We didn't go on it though, because it was four bucks. We were all "Four bucks to move slowly in a circle? Forget it." So we moved on to My Little Pony.

I realize this is a crappy photo, but I was taking it on the sly from far away. For some reason this really depresses me. The person wearing these pants is not insanely tall or anything, so I don't imagine these pants are the result of long pants being a hard-to-find item. I can find them, so this person can too. I think the reason I find this so depressing, is because this photo kind of sums up the people I have to work with. As if they are so dim that it has never occurred to them that this looks awful and must be uncomfortable as well. You just want to scream in their face "What's wrong with you?!" I mean, these pants are clearly too short for you.

Rock and Roll Has Killed Me

Alternate title "I'm old." My ears are still blocked this morning. I tried to do the adult thing and use earplugs, but then you can't sing along, because all you can hear is your own lame voice.

Second alternate title: "Something has finally happened worth photographing and posting!" It's been pretty slow since my birthday blow out.

So this show super rocked, as does pretty much every Joel Plaskett Emergency show I've ever been too. My friend and I, as you can tell, were close to the stage. Unfortunately so were some super drunk idiots who kept leaning on us, which almost resulted in a blow out of its own. One guy was all "I'm not drunk!" and she was all "If you can't stand on your own legs, then you are drunk!" To prove her point, she moved away from him and he almost fell over. Here's the thing drunk idiots at shows: You're not even going to remember this concert. Everyone around you will mostly remember how you were such assholes. Also, yelling "Nina and Albert" at least 150 times is not going to get them to play "Nina and Albert". Also, "Nina and Albert" is super mellow. This was a rock out show. Don't try to bring everything down asshole! And stop touching me! Fuck!

Also, if you're a tiny girl and you think you can move up through the crowd and stand in front of me, you have another think coming. That's why I picked you up and moved you out of the way, never to be seen again. Nice try though.

Now, dear band, it is cruel and unusual punishment to leave people standing in a drunken crowd like that for your super extended break between sets. See, we may not have rocked out quite as hard as you, because we didn't have instruments. But we were all singing full force, and kicking it out as much as possible in limited space, while fending off the drunks who made it to the front, but are not even really fans, what with not knowing any words and all. And let's also consider, you got paid $30 per person last night, we did not. Please, bands, do not leave your fans in that situation for more than 20 minutes. It is harsh. Even if you are backstage shaving off your beard, as was the case last night.

So back to the rocking out. This show was fabulous and they even broke out a few songs from "In Need of Medical Attention" which pleased me to no end (unfortunately not "Powerful Lights" though). And my friend was super jazzed that Ruth Minikin was there (no good shots of her) because then they played "Blinding Light", which neither of us had ever seen live. Then Joel's dad joined them!

His dad is super cute and it's always great when he joins in. At one point he didn't know a song they were doing and was checking Peter Elkas' keyboarding to get the chords, and Chris, the bassist, was being helpful as well. Cute!

It's super fun to watch because they always both look really happy to be playing together and they look really proud of each other.

Also, how hot are Chris and Peter looking these days?

Answer: Super hot. Especially Chris with those fantabulous pants.

So, while it was a great show, it was one of those nights that left me wondering if I can really hack being at concerts anymore. All I could think was "That Bob Dylan show in May better be a sit down event! Don't make me stand up all night Dylan!"

This is what my brother and my sister-in-law gave me! Possibly intended mostly as a show piece/curiousity, but it still takes film!!! Glaaaaah.

It's a Graflex Crown Graphic and has an adapter for 120 film. I think I have figured out how to use it, but I'm still not positive about loading the film. Here it is all ready for some sheets of 4x5 film:

So here's some stuff I got for Christmas, in no particular order, because I'm pretty sleepy and order right now is a tall order. Order.

This Care Bear (Wish Bear!) was not actually a Christmas gift, but my mom found it at a sale and it was one I needed for my original ten collection so now it's mine.

And my dad gave me this 25th anniversary bear that came with a fabulous DVD of the original Care Bear's episode/movie dealie, which I fully remembered and I ate some pizza while watching it and it made Giftmas extra awesome.

For those times when your party outfit is just not complete without a bumblebeebat ring.

I got some other Halloween related things, including the below napkins (I love fancy napkins). My mom suggested I use them at my next Halloween party. They will not survive past my birthday extravaganza in February.

So, I've been a slacker over the holidays about posting stuff. So here are some random holiday photos.

The above candy was used to make this gingerbread house. My mom made the big gingerbread people, with much difficulty, thanks to super thick icing.

That bottom crow was not feeling the holiday spirit.

I won T.V. bingo! It was a $100 prize but someone else horned in on it so I only got $50. Still awesome!

Home For The Holidays

So, as the title suggests, I'm home for the holidays. More specifically, at my parent's home. Here's what's been happening so far:

There are a boat load of birds in the backyard, because my parents put out bird feed a lot.

We went grocery shopping. This was not purchased.

My mom and I went to bingo. I won 25 buckaroos! Whoo!

Next up: Shopping for my dad, making a gingerbread house, making shortbread cookies, thinking about Judah Friedlander for a bit, followed by laughing my ass off, probably followed by a nap.

Also! Remember that donkey from a few posts back? I believe this is his website with commercial. He's anti-drunk driving. Unlike drunk drivers. Although, I think when I saw him, he was only doing pick up shots.

Remember the Great Ladybug Caper of Spring 2006? Well, I know that some more are hiding out in my patio door frame this season, but it seems that some have worked their way inside. I've seen one or two flit around, then disappear. I thought: "They either worked their way back into the door frame, or died in the halogen lamp." It was number two.

And they got super bleached out! There were actually seven or eight in there but the others were just charred. These two have paled out. Yarg.

Here's a video of performance of "Many Lives 49 MP". Sorry there's a big head in the video, although it's not that the dude's head is so big, just unfortunately placed for this shot and I didn't want to hold my camera any higher and obstruct the view for others. This is one of my favourite Final Fantasy songs so I was jazzed to hear it. In concert, his music can be very overwhelming, in a good way, so this video doesn't really accurately represent just how amazing this performance was. My friend D and I almost cried during this song, so that should give you some idea of how great it was. But watching him build up a song is pretty fascinating. Enjoy!

So nothing has really been happening lately, and therefore I've had nothing to post. So, I took some pictures from around my apartment to help get you hyped for Halloween.

Here's the dollar store hat I've been wearing all week (in my apartment, not outside) and will continue to wear for the next 11 - 30 days.

Whee! Halloween!!! It's the most wonderful time of the year (contrary to popular belief and written songs)! Although, I went to a local candy and toy store yesterday and they already had the Halloween stuff stuck in the back of the store (although NOT on sale) and the Christmas stuff was taking prominence. This has happened in many stores already. Note to stores: It is disrespectful to Halloween to push it aside for Christmas. Just bust it all out on November 1, mkay? Jerks.

Up first: 50 Mile Yard Sale!

If you can believe it, I actually did not buy this. I wanted too, but I wanted the dollar more.

We stopped for lunch at Reid's, but I don't know what town we were in. These were the best home fries ever! The grilled cheese samich was too crunchy.

The day was winding down and this, somehow, was still not purchased.

Here were my main scores: Dolly Parton album: $2.50

I went through a huge Pokemon phase in September of 1999, while being unemployed and living in a very small bachelor apartment, sleeping on an air mattress with a teeny television at the end of it, and living off of jumbo chocolate chip muffins and Rockets. This is a Pokemon keychain. Some of these things are damn cute. This one is named Chancey! 10 cents!

This was only attended because I had free tickets for it. It was okay. Better than I expected, but probably only because I expected it to be terrible.

This concert rocked! I wasn't as close as I would have liked to have been but the closer tickets were rondo expensive. I could still see Gord Downie wiggling his butt from where I was, so all was fine.

The day begins with the take down of various party supplies. Cue theme from "Chariots of Fire":

After fud, we head over to the park.

We also got our snack on at this pub. All I wanted was a club sammich, but they made it with turkey, which I can't eat. So I got nachos, and they skimped on the cheese. Rip.

We stopped for gelato at some place in Fox Hill and ate it by this pond.

On the way home we saw alpacas!

P.S. I have started using a new dealie for posting, and hopefully it will work better. However, I have yet to figure out how to centre text and it seems to force a small title upon me, as opposed to giant titles, which I prefer. Seems like centering text would be simple, but not with this.

Part One - Animals

Starting with a fake animal.

Even though there was a bunch of exotic type animals that we rarely get to see, we were still most excited about seeing the one that is most like a house cat.

We couldn't leave this guy. He kept making loud purring sounds mixed with soft growling sounds. He was so great.

Most of the animals were sacked out for naps, since it was boiling out. This bear kept pacing back and forth.

The other bear wouldn't come out of his house.

Here is a bald eagle, looking mad, as usual.

These minks were super stoked to see people. They were also super fast, and therefore, super blurry.

The game room. Guitar, bubble chair, Connect Four, a movie studio, a stocked fridge, a crazy giant ass t.v., leather couch, drum as side table (much like in my own home), pool table, air hockey table, puzzle, cards, a scooter, and a game of Battleship!

This is presently called the Medieval Science Room, as I am collecting rare items of the medival and science variety, so they are just in here as a mish mash right now. Along with my bowling alley, which you can actually play bowling on.

Here's Rizzo in a powdered wig, which I bought, next to an Ice Cream Tree, which I won.

This is his garden. I have to tend to the plants each day, which I eventually harvest and either eat, or most likely, sell. Looks like it's time to harvest a watermelon and a pumpkin!

This is also a storage area. I had to buy all those bamboo boxes to store all his clothes in. Also, some other stuff that I won: The two fancy chairs, a fancy table and an ice couch, which I haven't sold yet, since I may make rooms for them.

This is the Space Room. Rizzo is sitting next to the trophy I won!

Gay Pride Parade!

This actually took place a couple of weeks ago and I'm just getting around to posting it.

This is one of my favourtie pics because this dog looks so damn happy! He is pretty fashionable after all.

There were a few gay pirates this year. At one point some pirates were running around yelling "Yar!" and then one passed behind me and said to his friend "I just yarred my professor." Classic.

Man, I love the gay pride parade. So happy! It was raining a fair bit, which is why it seems fairly dark in all the pictures. You can tell I love it because of the extreme use of exclamation points in this post. Unfortunately the guy with his cat in a stroller didn't show up this time around, but that spikey dog collar dog made up for it. Gay pride!

Prince Edward Island!

Part, what? Like, IV maybe. Let's say IV.

First off, check out this monster fly bite I aquired during the trip. I suspect this was done by the fly that Steve smashed on the windshield resulting in a huge smear of blood. I mean, this looks like a birth mark! Cripes! Also, wow, I am pale.

I love porch swings.

Carcassonne was played as someone splashed out on the game. Which made me feel better about splashing out on Kurt Vonnegut. We did not read enough instructions to find out what this awesome dragon was for.

I was too tired to maintain instructions, so I was relegated to counting pieces along the board and taking photos.

Sloan!

Sloan rocked out at the Marquee last night. It was one of the best shows I've been at in awhile in terms of rockage. Being that close to the stage made me feel like it was 1996 again. So great!

Holy sweet jebus! Look at the veins on Andrew Scott!

One thing I love about Sloan is how each guy seems like a totally different rock star. Andrew Scott is all "Whatever. I have other things going. I paint and I rock."

Patrick is more "I'm fashionable but I'm super dedicated to playing this correctly. Okay, I need to rock out for a sec. Alright, back to being correct."

Chris: "I totally understand the power of my smile and I'm going to rock that power. Also, watch me kick and pump my fists! I love to rock out! I love my band! Whoo!"

And Jay is like "You guys do what you want. I'm gonna wear my clothes tight and move like it's 1972."

Can you guess who was always my favourite?

Side note: my friend is pretty sure her ex-fiance sold this bass to Chris Murphy.

During the encore, Patrick's dad came aboard to rock the keyboards for a cover of "Roll Over Beethoven" which was jumpin'. You can see Chris request his presence on stage in the video below.

One of the greatest shows ever. My feet were pretty mad at me though.

Joel Plaskett Emergency!

Alderney Landing, Dartmouth Waterfront, July 20, 2007

Special guests: Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar and Peter Elkas

Joel takes over the drums for "Fashionable People".

This concert was super awesome, and I was comfortable enough to enjoy it's full rockitude. They did not "White Stripes" us and make us wait in inhumane conditions for 45 minutes before they started their set. Although, I still enjoyed the White Stripes concert, I probably would have liked it more if I didn't feel like death.

There was also some great free form stuff where the band fondly remembered Bob Switzer of Taz Records and how all their records smelled like smoke, which was odd, as I literally had the same conversation about Bob and Taz about an hour earlier with my friend at this concert. It was fun to join in and shout "Hey Bob Switzer!" over and over.
